anyone know the weight of a plastic trash compactor bag?

Let me tack on an additional weight question from one who is mathematically challenged... does 16 fluid oz. of water weigh 1 lb. ? thanks!
16 oz water * cup/8oz * quart/4cups * gallon/4quarts * 8.34lbs water/gallon water = 1.0425 lbs water

I guess that would explain why 100 lbs of feathers doesn't weigh as much as 100 lbs of steel.

If you are making a raincover for your pack, try and make it out of a contractor grade bag. Last longer and more durable. Also, look at making it double as a poncho also. I cant tell you how many times my pack cover built up condensation, especially in downpours.

actuallly im' attempting to see if i can manage my current gear into a granite gear pack which is rated at 30 lbs...so i'm trying to get an accurate weight of everything i own....but i don't have a scale.
so it may actually end up being too heavy...and i do consider myself small...you are correct.

You got to get a scale. Its the only way you can weight the little things. My scale can weigh a paper clip. Get a scale for your birthday.:)

It was easier for me to walk in the other room and weigh the bag than try to articulate the question of why it would matter.:D
I carry a standard 13 gallon white trash bag that weights .80 ounces.

I used a trash bag as a pack cover one time but it was too heavy. It gave me shin splints.
