And all other hikers who love bacon on the trail... Americas best bacon (http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26992568/?GT1=43001).
That being said, what is your favorite trail food?

You gotta grind that stuff up really well. Otherwise it gets kinda gritty.

top of the food chart.... mine anyway. ;)
Bacon isn't kosher.
Neither am I, but I still have one foot in the "old testament" only "old" to modern day Christians.
Bacon, however, is, one of the major food groups:
1) Sugar
2) Fat
3) Salt
Oh, sorry, that's only the three major food groups for habitual HIKERS ;).

hmm, and I thought it was best for chinking drafty shelters. guess it is multi-purpose, like everything should be. :)

IMO, the best bacon is whatever Matt himself cooks...while we're out on the Trail. :)

On my recent hike on the Trail in New England, I had this dehydrated blueberry cheesecake stuff. Decadent!!! http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/eatdrink026.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org)
Get two steaks and freeze em. Hike out and by dinner time the next day they're ready to cook. If you don't know how to cook a steak on an alcohol stove ask Matty. Cook both steaks at the shelter with some fresh vegetables (broccoli does well in a backpack...). Eat one, and half of the other, then groan and complain about how stuffed you are to the other hikers at the shelter as they drool into their ramen. Priceless.
