Which is better for an AT hiker, the Osprey Ather or Atmos ????The one that holds your gear comfortably and fits well. It's all a matter of personal preference.

Whichever fits better. The Atmos is not as adjustable as the Aether. The frame sheet impinges on the carrying area a bit which some people do not like.

Whats nice about the Aether is that the hip belt is interchangeable - e.g you can get a .large pack with a med belt...or what ever fits you best. The hip belt is molded to your hips too...super comfy.

I have a Atmos and a Aether - the Aether fits me best and is more comfy

My Aether is the best fitting, most balanced pack I've ever owned. Love it! Very comfortable hip-belt system. My 15-yr-old son loves his Atmos. They're both very good packs. The Atmos has a built-in "air space" to help keep your back cool; disadvantage is that it takes away some pack space. Others have suggested using that "air gap" to store a water bladder, leaving more room in the main compartment for gear, as well as providing an additional cooling element.
