Was just reading CNN when I came across this :
"She said she didn't want to get married, needed to be alone. She left him to go hike the Appalachian mountains and he never saw her again. Leitch learned later that his fiancee had come into an inheritance that made her a millionaire."

although she isn't mentioned again, I assume she hiked in 1997. I can only guess an attempted thru. It always strikes me when I read these little tidbits :)
anyway, I want a million (but I don't want to leave my wife!!!!) :)
