Hi chaps, tom here. My friend and i are doing a thru hike in 2009 for a UK cancer charity and im looking to set up a website so my fellow brits don't think i'm trying to rob them of their hard earned pounds.

So my main problem is coming up with a name - all i've thought of so far is www.a-walk-in-the-woods.co.uk (http://www.a-walk-in-the-woods.co.uk) but bill bryson used that same name for his book/journal of hiking the AT. Damn.

I know this is a slightly wierd request but you guys seem mighty good at coming up with names for each other so i thought you might be able to lend some of your skills to naming our fundraising site?

I guess the name needs to be quirky and fun yet explanatory of what we're doing. Any ideas would be gratefully recieved as my co hiker is not proving at all usefull on this front. If you get the winning name i will personally cook you a 3 course meal on the trail next year, fact.

Thanks guys. Tom

I suggested this one for a friend's book title a few years back, but he never used it.

So have at it:

Oh yeah. Absoultely awesome. When devoid of original ideas, why not rip off someone else's?

Cool. Awesome.

Um, no, not really.

A valid critique, but totally contrary to what Livestong and the LAF is all about. One of the main points of emphasis of the LAF is for those of us who have been affected by cancer to tell the world "What does LIVESTRONG mean to you". For some people it is to ride strong, for others it is to walk strong for yet others it is to basket weave strong. Whatever LIVESTONG means to you.

Spend a little time at laf.org and livestrong.com if you wish to explore the LIVESTRONG message more thoruoghly.

Thanks guys. TomWe have some local events, like walk-for-the-cure and run-for-the-cure. Maybe something along those lines.

There will be many times where you will be verbally giving people your site. If you start dealing with dashes, difficult spellings and the like it will make it tougher for people to find.

For example:

www.charityhike.com (already a real site, I see) would be easier to easier to remember than www.charity-hike-for-cancer-AT.com

How about www.missionremission.com (http://www.missionremission.com)

Edit: Ooops nevermind that's taken. But maybe some variation on that?

Hi guys, thanks for the input from everyone, great work!
So the votes have been counted and all the best ideas were mostly already taken.
I've gone for an adaptation of suggestions from Corialice81, JAK and SeigeOfMalta http://WalkForaCure.terapad.com
Please feel free to check it out, there are links on the site to our JustGiving page if anyone fancies making a contribution but i understand that most of you are most probably in the same situation as myself. skint. So maybe just a dollar a mile eh?

With regard to the 3 course meal i promised the winner, look out for me on the trail you three - 6ft7 british bloke with curly hair and a habit of talking in tones too deep for the human ear - and i'll see if maybe i can rustle you up a quiche or something eh?

Can't wait to get over there now, still need to save about £2500!!

Thanks again guys, Tom
