Does anyone out there know if the shelters between Max Patch and Hot Springs, NC are still seeing high bear activity the way they were over the spring and summer months?

I hiked between Davenport and Sams Gap last week, and never saw fresh signs of bear except close to Sams Gap. The CMC installed bear cables at some of the shelters in that area (after the string of problems earlier this year), and I would assume that has helped.

Thanks for the info. I was curious to know if the problem around those particular shelters was still going on. I spoke with several thru-hikers that had problems in that area at the time, apparently it was a really aggressive bear.
