Hello and Good Morning fellow White Blazers!

I have been lurking for a while now and sopping up boatloads of information. You all are incredible and the thoughts and words that you convey on the pages of this website are nothing short of brilliant.

So, yes, Hello. I'm Nate and I plan to thru-hike in 2010. I have plenty of time to prepare and break myself in on the trails of New England before I undertake the Big One.

Any concise words of encouragement? :sun

You can see a sliver of my adventures HERE. (picasaweb.google.com/nlanier)

Cheers!:banana

Unless you're having difficulty lighting your alcohol stove, in which case you should pet a burning dog.

Don't eat the yellow snow.

You'll be fine.

Don't eat the yellow snow. . . Yes, but that does raise the question of what you don't eat if there isn't any snow around.

The deep moral and spiritual implications of that question has always bothered me during the summer. I'm not sure, but it could mean that summer hiking is immoral.

Yup. Start with the downhill bits first and stay off the roofs of shelters.

:welcome to WhiteBlaze!

The trail is 90% mental. Get through the mental stuff and you got it made in the shade.

I suppose I could. I'm planning a winter excursion on Katahdin this year, and since it's all downhill I could easily carry full winter gear for 3/4 of the trip!

Walk, and never forget that you aren't working...because it sucks when you get back to the real world.

A bad day of hiking in the rain miles away from the next shelter is still better than being at work.

Warghy is right- there is always SOMEONE out there.

What's with the Facebook link? It only links to a search for Nathan Lanier, but no actual page.

I'm on facebook - I know how it works. It didn't even attempt to go to his page. It went to a search page.

I don't know. I tried to put a small badge to link to my page but it wouldn't work. This is the only way I know how to do it... Just trying to make some connections with fellow hikers. I'll try to change it.

And hey NewEnglandMiles... Do you do any winter stuff?

Annnd warraghiyage I am sure many do every winter I was just looking for a number or percentage..

Thanks:banana
