Looking at buying the above item...is this the best price through atc store that I will find or do they discount the maps later on?

Also, I became a member of something or another at The Gathering... when we registered we also paid for our membership...was this to the ATC and the store or something else? We have received nothing in the mail or email to confirm the membership...but we did pay extra specifically for membership after paying our entry fee into The Gathering.

They used to put all this on sale towards the end of the year, that's when I bought mine. If you are a member of the ATC, you would be receiving the magazine. You can always call them and ask.

Looks like it. Can't remember how much I paid back in 1999!

This is is the usual sale they run every year.

The membership at the Gathering is for ALDHA. ATC is a separate membership. Unless you went specifically went to the ATC store there and bought a membership.

If you registered at the Gathering, it was probably for ALDHA, not ATC. If you're planning to thru-hike, it makes sense to be an ATC member -- as a token gesture if nothing else (notwithstanding the discounts at the ATC store.) I've never regretted a dime sent to ATC. I could have saved a lot of cash becoming a "life member."

Agreed. Hats off to the hard workers of ATC, among others like the trail groups and volunteers. Wow.
