Has anyone tried the new "ultralite" Thermarest yet?

Two Backpack Gear Testers are beginning their test of the 13 oz version. Test started in February, and two month field results should be available early this month.

The initial reports have a number of photos and measurements.

The larger versions are also being tested. All the reports can be seen here:

When the April reports come in they will be in this folder.

Yes, I used my Prolite 3 (72X20) a couple of weeks ago on the AT in Georgia. Cannot see much difference between it and the old Thermarest ultralite, except it is an ugly orange, and weighs 4 ounces less. It slipped all over the floor of my tarp tent (silnylon) and I spent most of the night chasing it. Evidently the non=skid bottom, they advertised, does not work for tarp tenters with a silnylon floor.

I think putting the seam sealer on the floor of the tent will give good results. Someone put it on the bottom of the pad and it didn't work, but I think putting it on the floor of the tent will work a lot better!
