I was thinking of taking a day off in NJ to head over to Six Flags for a day of fun. I was wondering if anyone knew how far off the trail it is over to Six Flags and if theres a train or transportation near the trail to get over to Six Flags. Thanks for your help.

Sorry but it's practically at the other side of the state... the trail is in the northwestern part of NJ, while Six Flags is central eastern part. No transportation nearby that I know of. The turnpike goes near Six Flags at exit 7, I think it is. But the turnpike goes nowhere near the trail, I80 does.

You would have to get off in DWG. It would be about a two hour drive to get to six flags. Take 80 south, to 287 south, to NJ turnpike south and follow signs for six flags, exit 17a I think. As far as bus service I am not sure. You could check Martz bus service.

Check NJ transit and you might be able to get there through NYC. There is probably bus service to Jackson.

Six flags is pretty far from the trail, in south central NJ. I would say it's a minimum 2 hour drive. As an alternative, you can check out mountain creek water park in Vernon. http://www.mountaincreekwaterpark.com/

Not quite Great Adventure but it's only a few miles south of the trail where it crosses route 94.

I went to Mountain Creek water park. Talk about a fun place to spend a day. Tons of great water rides, cliff diving, rope swings. Fantastic park.

Also right in Vernon, a very very easy and short hitch to the park from the trail.

The park is finally starting to lose the horrible reputation it used to have when it was "Action Park" when there were a ton of accidents and some casualties.
