I always think of it more like a Bear Burrito... a bit dry on the outside, but meaty and gushy on the inside.

Thanks for trying to take up for me sheep....Gray has no mercy... I have been using my friends HH and thought it was time to buy my own. I must say that I have never felt like a bear main course but more like a puzzle to a raccoon...

Sounds like it's time for someone to join Hammock Forums (http://www.hammockforums.net), Bump Jumper. Maybe even consider a tarp large enough for you and your granddaughter to hang under together.

Awesome. If you're not happy with the stock tarp I can't say enough about my MacCat Deluxe. That's a heck of a deal getting a free Scout.

Hooch, tell me more. I never thought of that. She wont want to be too far from me, as she is only 7 years old.

Jax, it was a good deal and two skins as well..

Jax, it was a good deal and two skins as well..My son just turned 7 in September and he loves his hammock (http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=815&catid=member&imageuser=336). When we go camping, I hang us together under one tarp (http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=3222&catid=member&imageuser=983) so that he's close, I can see and hear him and he can do the same with me. He feels much safer that way. IMO, the best way to do it is to hang your foot ends on one tree and the head ends from trees next to each other, then put the tarp over both.

Oh, what is so special about the Mac Cat? Info? The MacCat (http://www.outdoorequipmentsupplier.com/products-maccat-tarps.html) tarps are caternary cut to reduce wind noise. They're also exceptionally well made.

How big ?Depends on what you're talkin' about.:eek::D

The MacCats vary in size from the Micro all the way up to the Deluxe. Personally, I use the Speer Winter Tarp. It's hug, plenty of coerage, lightweight, well made, etc. The Speer Winter Tarp is 11' along the ridgeline by 10' wide.

Oh, what is so special about the Mac Cat?

I find my MacCat provides a lot more coverage than the stock in addition to the reduced wind noise that Hooch mentioned. When it's cold I can also pitch the sides steep to block the wind. When it's warm I can open them wide for plenty of ventilation. I guess it boils down to more flexibility.

Personally, I use the Speer Winter Tarp.

I plan to add some end-coverage to my homemade Cat-cut tarp this winter. This seems like a good upgrade to incorporate for those windy or foggy nights.

Something like this without the professional stitching (I'm a hack on the Singer)

You will love your Hammock. I have a favorite island that I like to kayak to and camp, the only downside about the island is there are no trees so I am stuck using my tent on that trip, otherwise, all I use is my hammock. Enjoy.

I would have to kayak to an island with trees then. We have a river here in Florida called the Silver River. Beautiful river. Lots of places to camp along the shores and lots of trees...

You didn't see the wild monkeys there. I'm not kidding.

Yeah Gray, they are still up the river. They are not along the entire run. I hate monkeys. I really do. Probably the only animal I hate.

Yea I did, bit the bullet. I'm able to shave three pounds off my pack weight by loosing the tent alone. Never weighed the ground cloth but it's got to be mored than a pound. Couldn't resist the deal as well ~ buy one, get two.:D:D:D

Well I tried my new hammock out this weekend. I love it. I feel more roomy in it than I did in the other one for some reason. Wonder if they changed the size? Oh well, I cant wait to let Kadie try her new Scout out.

I can't decide on the Hennessy Expedition or Ultra Lite Backpacker. The Backpacker is $50 more and other than 13oz lighter is there something significnt that justifies the additional $50 ?

If your planning on keeping it, 13 oz is worth a lot.

The Expedition is rated for up to 250lbs, whereas the ULB is rated up to 200 lbs.

I own a HH already, but will be ordering a Warbonnet Blackbird... The Blackbird has zippers on the bugnet, an internal shelf for storage of those things that you need in the night, and best of all, the double layer 1.7 weighs in at 31oz... A double layer 1.1 weighs in at 24oz...

Just a question to all those that took advantage of the HH christmas special. Did you receive the scout? When I ordered my safari, they were out of those so I had to "settle" for an expedition. :)

I ordered a Super Shelter last month & was glad to get the free Scout, but I wondered who was going to use it as I have a fairly tall family. Well I got the package & it had an Expedition instead of a Scout. I called Hennessy & they said they'd briefly run out of Scouts & had sent that instead. Talk about good service: I only had to think about a problem & they took care of it. They also threw in the accessory pads.

My Reply:
Dang-it man! The cat is out of the bag now! My son is about 6 feet tall and I have the same problem. I WANT MY FREE EXPIDITION AS WELL! Wonder if they will give it to me? Don't Think So!

I got a Scout would have loved to have another Expidition!

I didn't get the free Expedition it was Disposable on hammock Forums that did. I got a scout and both of mine came without snakeskins. I had to call them to get the snakeskins. And yes, I was pleased.

Give me a holler and I will tell you the rest of the story.
