I am creating my own Trail Journal site, and would like to know of your creative features for it.

Not saying that I can or will do all of them, but I am still curious!

Currently, just the Journal, and Statistics part is functional.

Looks good to me and look forward to following it, but why not just use trailjournals where you will receive more hits and familarity??? people realize that trailjournals is there like whiteblaze but how do they find your site?

I like it. A lot. Great, simple design. I don't like "trailjournals" because everyone's looks the same. This is unique. Sure, it may not receive the hits as it would on "trailjournals", but because it stands out, the people who go to it will remember it.

Well done (so far), look forward to seeing it when it is complete!

You could put your link on the Peak to Peak Trail and Wilderness links site to spread the word around.Peak To Peak (http://www.peaktopeak.net/)

And/or- Backpacker links com-Backpacker Links (http://www.backpackerlinks.com/) Streamweaver

I'll leave the creative ideas to others but I will make one comment to you regarding your journal ...keep it current !!

I am one who really does like to read on-line journals and I did keep one during my thru-hike last year (trailjournals.com/footslogger). I will admit that I dropped off during the last week of my hike in Maine but otherwise I did my best to maintain a current account of my experiences and wherabouts. It meant a lot to the readers and even more to me now that I am back home (and wishing I was back out on the trail). Capture as many details as you can and write them down daily if possible. As minor as they may seem at the time they will be of extreme interest and value to you later when you look back and reconstruct your hike. Get hiker's trail names and e-mail addresses. Get the names and addresses of people who show you random acts of kindness so that you can remember and thank them once you're hike is behind you.

Nuff said ...just wanted to throw that in, for what it's worth.

I got this error message and none of the sub-pages, so far as I could tell, would pull up at all ... just got error messages of Not Found.

"Warning: Unknown(): Your script possibly relies on a session side-effect which existed until PHP 4.2.3. Please be advised that the session extension does not consider global variables as a source of data, unless register_globals is enabled. You can disable this functionality and this warning by setting session.bug_compat_42 or session.bug_compat_warn to off, respectively. in Unknown on line 0"

You could ... Peak To Peak (http://www.peaktopeak.net/)
And ... Backpacker Links (http://www.backpackerlinks.com/)Streamweaver
You could put a journal at trailjournals.com that points to your own page. Others have done that.
Next year, when you have "Springer Fever" like I do, you'll really appreciate this years journals that name names.
I only met Jan Liteshoe twice but her journal mentions just about everyone I summitted with. Makes it really interesting now.
