I'm starting the name tag list. I'm not sure if I'll be doing a contest (or calender) this year. I screwed up in mailing out calenders last year and still have some from last years photographers (http://www.soruck.net/nametagpics.html). If your photo was chosen you haven't received your calendar please PM me.

Anyway, here's the name tag list of those that have committed to coming.

Nah, that's OK, save the money for a good meal.

If you make it to town by Friday (or Saturday) make sure to post for a ride. Getting back on Sunday or Monday should be no problem.

Yeah, I will be coming up from Georgia, wouldn't mind letting someone ride so long as it isn't raining. I could do a prearranged pickup from Dicks Creek Gap or Winding Stair Gap.

I'm coming up 441N on Friday, around lunch. Either Gap is easy for me. I think both of them are about 10 miles off 441. I will be leaving out Sunday around lunch or so if you need a ride back. I mean, I could even get you at Unicoi, it's just a little more aggravating. Let me know closer to time and PM me here to get my email address and phone number.

We have 121 names so far. Although I probably won't start printing until next week, if you plan on coming and aren't on the list please let me know. Also, if you can't make it, please let me know, so I can take you off. I will have a small number of blank name tags with just the photo and Southern Ruck 2009 for late comers.

http://www.soruck.net/nametags.html

Obviously, not everyone is going to be able to fit in the dining hall all at once. As in the past, we'll have the lines through the kitchen from the back door. Once you're finished eating if you could move to Kleinrath Hall, or outside to make room for others it would be appreciated. Bring an umbrella just in case it decides to rain.

I signed up a few hours ago via PM. What's the latest count? Assuming the food spreadsheet is current, it looks like we still need lots of food if we're talking at least 122 attendees.

I can say this, I see 2 dozen eggs for each morning. That won't even come remotely close to feeding 121 people.

Bulldawg, you read my mind -I was thinking the same thing, that we didn't have near enough eggs. Looks like D'Artagnan saved the day.

Hey Bulldawg don't mean to be dense ( well not to dense anyway ) but I'm willing to bring stuff (eggs, potatoes, grits, paper stuff, whatever) just not sure what.
Asked Sly and he was no help ;) told me to look at the spreadsheet. Geezzzz maybe I've been married to long/often. I do better when I'm given a list. I'm not allowed to go to the store without a list.
Soooooo ?? Potatoes, grits, eggs (I'm beginning to think eggs) ???? Or sardines, oysters, crackers you know, good stuff?

And I won't assume you're going to cook it :p

I don't handle kitchen duties. :D The best I can do is point you to the spread sheet.

PS I think we're all set for eggs. We need bacon, lots of bacon!

Bulldawg
01-09-2009, 16:01
OK oftheearth. Looks like Dartang has the eggs covered. I have 10 pounds of taters, which is probably not enough. I am bringing 2 pounds, maybe more of grits. 2 or 3 pounds of grits goes a LONG LONG way. I would say get some more taters. I can't think of anything else right off without looking at the sheets. Let me take a gander and make my recommendations.

Sly, you jump in and tell me to shut up anytime you see fit!!

Sly
01-09-2009, 16:06
Friday night is Potluck. Usually dishes are prepared and only needed to be heated up or put out.

Orangebug normally gets up early so, the hikers can hike, and handles Saturday breakfast

Sat. lunch is similar to Friday potluck

Sat. dinner usually has Gadawg in the kitchen as general.

Hopefully, Miss Janet plans on taking over for Sun. breakfast.

Leftovers for Sun. lunch

There's atleast a dozen people that I don't think ever leave the kitchen and are the heart of the SoRuck. I leave them alone.

Sly
01-09-2009, 16:07
Sly, you jump in and tell me to shut up anytime you see fit!!

Now you're doing fine. Carry on. :D

Bulldawg
01-09-2009, 16:12
I'd say as far as Breakfast is concerned, maybe 10 or 15 more pounds of taters. Then as Sly said, lots more bacon. I mean I think we need 20-25 pounds of bacon and sausage each to cover all the mornings and I see like 2 pounds committed.

Friday night pot luck looks pretty good. Maybe another veg or two and another main dish.

Saturday lunch looks decent. I'm not sure how much of something folks are fixing, so it is hard to say on that one.

I don't think another pot of spaghetti would hurt anybody's feelings on Saturday night as well as some more bread.

Sunday breakfast, probably some more bisquit dough or something along those lines.

Bout all I can see myself, but who am I other than a lowly hiker!!

Lilred
01-09-2009, 22:32
Sly, I got a really neat flat top griddle for xmas I could bring. It'll cook up a lot of bacon at once. I'll bring it for Saturday morning.

I'm bringing enough biscuit dough to make 150 biscuits. I brought more last year and had a bunch left over.

Hey, will bacon be cooked if I pick some up? Or should I focus on sausage?

I'd focus on one or the other. Trying to do both is gonna drive you nuts.
Check your PM's.

Maybe he should talk his Mrs. into handling his sausage for him.:bananaHasn't been a Mrs. Two Speed for about 4 years now; the divorce was final April 1, 2005.

Somehow I find it oddly appropriate that mess wrapped up on April Fool's Day.

I don't care who handles the sausage as long as they wash their hands first.

Hey Sly,
It may be too late for me to add on to your printed name-tag list, but I have just now decided to hop in the truck and head up there. See you tonight!
