Hi all! I'm in the planning stages for my AT hike with my yellow lab Harley and was wondering if anyone had any good book recommendations. I just ordered three books from Amazon (Field Guide to Dog First Aid by Randy Acker, Hiking with your Dog: Happy Trails by Gary Hoffman, and A Guide to Backpacking with your Dog by Charlene Labelle).

If you found any other books that are worth reading, please let me know. I want to make sure Harley and I are prepared for the trail. Happy hiking!

i ordered labelle's one before hiking w/ my dog, but found it was more suited for dayhiking and weekend backpacking, not long distances.... i think the best thing i've read for hiking w/ dogs is http://www.appalachiantrail.org/atf/cf/{D25B4747-42A3-4302-8D48-EF35C0B0D9F1}/fido.pdf it is an old article, but very realistic, (he recommends pro-spot for ticks, personally i prefer a more modern flea/tick treatment like frontline)
