this feels like a dumb question, but here it goes --- i have an osprey ariel 60 and a full length ridgerest pad. normally, the pad is strapped at the base outside the pack. but, with a raincover on, the pad won't fit there. so, where should it go? (see, this makes me want the prolite 3 pad even more).
help! (i'm making a raincover today -- i ordered the pattern from quest and i am making the size sm/md) in the past, i only had to deal with snow -- and a cover isn't necessary w/snow.
thanks,
d

I made my own raincover to fit over the external pad. Don't know why manufacturers don't consider this. If you have enough material, just make your raincover bigger so it fits. There's a picture of mine in the photo gallery here at whiteblaze.

or roll your pad into a tube and put it into your pack. stuff gear inside tube. pads gear as well as keeping it more water tight.

You could also fold it put it into pack against your back,
