The thru hikers have a registry, so why not section hikers? I'm not sure this belongs in the class of 2009 thru-hiker subforum, so putting it in general for now. Maybe "the powers that be" will start a section hiker forum. :-?

Anyway, I'm planning a long distance section hike starting around May 1st from Damascus to at least Rockfish gap and maybe all the way to Harpers Ferry depending on time and energy.

Who else has either a short or long distance section hike in the works?

Going form Springer to Fontana next May.

Last year we did Atkins to Damascus and the year before that we did the Smokies. I hope to get out for 6 weeks this summer and will try to connect some dots between parts of the AT that I have already completed.

I am planning on thru hiking next year, but I will finish as a section hiker in Rutland, VT on my way to Katahdin.

I've got 12 or so 3-day-weekend section hikes coming up beginning in the spring. Shall I register?

If you wish to be on the spreadsheet, reply to the other thread or send me a PM. If you want to be identified as doing a section, reply as such and I will add it to the 'additional' column or some way. You might want to put down where you plan to start and finish. Last yr there were quite a few sectioners on the list.

See you on the trail,

Madame and I completed this year's section hike from Lehigh Gap to Great Barrington on Oct. 30. We'll be back next year to complete Mass. and Vermont. BTW, Great Barrington really is a GREAT town.
