Snags, tears, rips and burns. All those little holes that let the feathers leak out. How do you fix those?

Either ripstop tape or duct tape. Always carry some ripstop tape on my trips.

Is that a permenant repair? What exactly is ripstop tape?

It is a piece of ripstop nylon (available in little rolls or various colors) with some no ***** glue on the back. I have an old North Face down vest over 25 years old with pieces of ripstop tape stuck to it at least half that age. No down leakage.

I've used duct tape to repair many pieces of clothing. But here is the trick: After applying the duct tape, use an iron on *LOW* heat.

Yep. Iron on the duct tape. Makes a great seal.

If you want to be fashionable, duct tape comes in many different colors to match your fabric. The silver duct tape does give you that I'm a burly outdoors person look though :)
(Or I'm a cheap bastard look .. ;) )

I've used tent tape for years. It even comes in colors.

Probably works well, but being lazy, I've always had duct tape handy - (Along with dental floss) be it on trail or at home. :)

Whether you use tent tape/rip stop tape/duct tape, I honestly think the real trick is to use an iron on low heat settings. Works like a champ.
