View Full Version : Probably a redundant Aqua Mira ?

I was curious if Aqua Mira adds any nasty taste to water? I've used Potable Aqua and simply can not stand the way it makes the water taste. I have a water filter, but would prefer the AM route for the weight savings. Looking for any input.

Aqua Mira has no taste. It is probably the most preferred choice out of the chemical treatments.

Ditto to what Buliwyf said - there's no noticeable taste whatsoever. Aqua Mira is s a great option for water treatment.

Some people do taste aqua mira, including myself. I can't stand the taste of it, but it's still worth it for the weight. I just add kool aid, propel, crystal lite, and stuff like that to it. The warmer the water is, the stronger the taste of it is. I couldn't taste the chemicals at all until I hit VA and the water would heat up in my platy.

So I guess it's definitely a step up from PA tablets.

It's a skyscraper up from PA.

There is a slight chlorine taste, esp if you use a bit too much. But not objectionable.

Those used to treated public water probably won't notice the taste. Those of us used to our own well water probably will.

I've never noticed any bad taste. In fact, it think it can improve upon taste if you treat water from ponds/lakes.

AQ usually doesnt have any taste, but if it used to treat water with lots of organics, it can form some byproducts that have a chlorine smell.

Funny, I just remembered something. I bought some AM at an outfitter in Medford, OR near the PCT. The clerk asked me why I was taking it on the PCT. They sold it only as a "taste enhancer" for storing water long term. I guess Oregon has a law, like other states (you can't buy it at all in CA), but at least they can sell it for something.
