I'm considering getting an alcohol stove for one person on multiple week backpacking trips.
These are the stoves I'm considering:
-Etowah II Stove Kit

-PackaFeather FeatherFire
http://www.packafeather.com/stove.html
-PackaFeather XL Stove
http://www.packafeather.com/xlstove.html

Which of these do you think would be best?

I've used the Etowah II with good results. I'm partial to the Penny stove, which is very easy to build yourself.

I've never used any of those. Have you considered building your own?

Build a supercat, check out the boil times, then try some others. The supercat's the lightest stove I've built, the easiest to build, the most fuel efficient, and it doesn't need a pot stand.
You'll need a small cat food can and a paper hole punch. That's it.

Hey Darwin...
As you may have deduced from what I said on the "other" site, from those your list, my choice by a slight margin is the XL (http://i444.photobucket.com/albums/qq164/Quoddy1/On%20the%20Trail/TentUp-StoveinAction.jpg?).

I'd suggest building your own. I was a very newbie stovie just a couple months ago and have put together many stoves. The best design that's worked for me I've posted many times and will continue to do so, it's a good design, easy to accomplish, and very efficient.

I get 16-20 minutes of boil time off 1 oz of fuel and can boil 2 cups of water in about 5-7 minutes depending on water temp.

That's odd. I've never gotten anywhere near those numbers. I was working with an AntiGravityGear stove. Typically 60-90 seconds before priming is complete, then around 5-7 minutes of burn time. On about half my attempts, the water never boiled. I guess that's why I could never get comfortable with alky stoves.

My Trangia Westwind model works well.

Another vote for the Westwind, although I like the Brasslite Turbo IID also.

I use a modified Supercat stove. Take a 3 oz. can of catfood (~ $.50) and space 8 holes around the middle of the can (use a hole punch). That's it! Then make a windshield for your stove and pot. To use, pour your fuel into the can, light, wait 15 seconds, then place your pot on the stove. Boils 2 cups of water in 5 minutes on 1/2 ounce of alcohol.

The "Starlyte" by Zelph has been getting lots of good reviews. Seems like the best design that I've seen.

Dear all,

Thank you for the input.
In terms of what I'm wanting an alcohol stove for is for cooking food and for boiling water.
I haven't decided yet what pot I'm going to get, but I'm considering:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000FBSZF6/ref=nosim/coffeeresearch61576-20

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001ASJUDO?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=shopzilla_rev_31-20&linkCode=asn

I'm hoping to get a pot that my stove can fit into, but that's not necessary.
I'm planning to use the stove for roughly 7 day stretches between resupplies.
If any of this additional info from me helps with your giving me more advice on the stoves I mentioned, please let me know.
Thank you:)

I should have stated 16-20 minutes of cook time, only reached the 20 minute mark once (maybe too much fuel) but it does take 5-7 minutes to boil and will continue usually for another 9-10 minutes. Very efficient stoves in my book.
