Wow, thanx Earthworm!!

What a great article. Paw-Paw is indeed a great guy, a great hiker, and a great patriot. You also have to love it when a guy his age attributes his sharp mind and robust health to frequent applications of Maker's Mark.

Perhaps I should switch brands.

Paw Paw turned me on to Maker's Mark, though I rarely feel flush enough to buy a bottle. It's not sold in Maine -- at least not anywhere's near me. If I'm driving out of state, I'll sometimes buy a bottle at a New Hampshire booze store.

I chatted with Paw Paw when he was 82 on the summit ridge of Saddleback, during Wingfoot's effort to protect the mountain. Later we met at The Cabin. He's a trail legend, and a great guy. It's nice to hear that he's still alive and walking a decade later.
