Looking for a gift for my "nephew", I spotted these (rather than my usual Campmor gift card):

Kinda cool if you are looking for an outdoor oriented gift for a child rather than the usual clothes-type gift; a nice one to give! :)

They used to have some strap on "bigfoot" track makers. Might work as a snowshoe for a rugrat.

Bet he wears them in the house.

But aren't you and Dad going to have some cheap entertainment while she is running errands.

Depends on how much beer is involved (that would be for Dad and I NOT the little guy... :) )

FWIW, If the kids in the rockies, or the northern land, I think that it'd be a good gift, otherwise might look into something that he can destroy throughout the year :sun

First, that photo is too fricken' funny!

And yep..the little guy lives in the same town as I. In fact, I may be going (GASP!) snowshoeing them them in a couple of weeks. Early Hanukkah gift...

I think he's a cutie....but I am biased. :)

He's adorable. :)

I'd sure get them, but we don't get much snow here.

I caught two pairs of kids snowshoes on sale in the clearance aisle at Walmart a few years back for I think it was $7. So if you don't need them for Christmas, these items tend to end up in clearance. Haven't had a chance to try them out yet though, waiting for a blizzard:).

Hey, Cuffs--If the little one is five or older, I'd go for a real knife. (The saw blade is really useful for the budding craftskid.) I gave my kids real Swiss Army knives at a very early age. They used them under supervision until they were judged by David and me to be competent to use them on their own.

It depends on the parents, though. Some people don't think their kids are capable of growing up.

When I saw these, I thought about making some big ones from plywood.

Some other fool beat me to it.

Ah well..I should have waited a day or two..could have saved some cash! :)

Either way, I think they'll do him good.

I am indeed going NEXT Sunday on a snowshoe excursion. Hopefully they'll be in by then...

That's why I posted them. Figure other people may like them for a gift, too.

THIS Sunday, I am going skiing... woo hoo!

This tour (http://www.protrails.com/trail.php?trailID=32) is an easy trip in the summer. In the winter, about 10 miles R/T and some minor navigation. We'll see how it goes. ;)
