Has anyone used the Golite Utopia 2+? Looks stable as heck and at under 3 pounds (without floor), this is extremely light for 44 sq feet of living space:

I also found a great price here (with floor):

How much does it weigh once you add the floor is one question.

the floor is one pound, so 3 lbs, 13oz Still pretty good for 42 square feet free standing.

Well, its essentially a freestanding tarp tent and that weight with the floor is just OK, not great. There are several real tents that rival that weight which also have vestibules. My preference would be a tent with a vestibule or a lighter tarp tent, or maybe a tarp with a mesh bug tent or bivy.

Well, I got into one at a local outfitter and it is huge. I mean this is a 3 person tent. The headroom is surprising as I tend to have to duck in most shelters I use. Not sure about the tarp v.s. tent comment as this looked pretty much like an ID MK3 (except it has more room) or say a Black Diamond Firstlight where the poles are on the inside. Feels very stable and can definitely take a snow load.

The floor they had clips in at the four ends but it is a really robust floor - similar to my Akto except that the walls go up higher. I am actually really impressed given that you can leave the floor at home or bring it along. This tent is as big as an MSR Mutha Hubba but 50% lighter and it should be much more stable given the two cross pole design. No vestibule but I figure for the weight you could rig a small 5x7 tarp or just peel back the floor a bit for your boots. Otherwise a ton of space to store gear.

Might just take the plunge and post a review here.:D

Thanks guys.

The apparent absence of any mosquito netting across the door would seem to severly limit ventilation when the shelter is zipped up. I don't think the paneled windows alone are up to the task. Put two or more people in there and it'll likely be sauna city. If you take the plunge, good luck. I'll be interested to see your first-hand impressions.
