I've heard the term Canine Appalachian Trail a few times here and there- how does it differ from the "normal" AT?

Thx!

The anacronym is CAT. I think someone was/is pulling your leg/leash.

The problem is that the people who post on White Blaze could never agree on a specific term. I've recommended that they simply agree with what I say but they won't agree to that. I suspect they are hopeless.:D

lol, um, (is scratching head because I've read SO SO many threads in the past few days). I think it was used by someone with a pic of their dog as their avatar (and yeah, I know, that's SO helpful) And now of course I can't find it again >.<

I just didn't know if there was some sort of hike-around for the dog-restricted areas of the AT I guess.

Peanut is my little boxer. She's two and a half. I swear she was a mountain goat in a former life. That pic was taken just after she had woken up from a nap out in the sun on our back deck, her brain had not yet engaged. She and I are going to do a section hike this spring up here in New England.

Just googled it, and this thread was the only place on the whole internet that came up with that exact phrase.

It does make sense that someone would try to figure out a way to walk around GSMNP with their dog... but I have no idea if that's even possible.

I considered it but it would have been a long road walk.

I would figure it's an AT thru hike that a dog is legally allowed to do. So skipping the smokies, taking the blue blaze around the zoo in NY, and finishing at Abol Bridge. Not that bad considering it's only missing 90 something miles.
