Does anybody know how to get the waypoints from backpacker.com of a certain trail and transfer them to Mapsource Topo 08. When i try to save to computer it does not work.
The process is relatively simple. Briefly:
1. Download the .gpx file (a universal gps data file) to your computer.
2. Open the .gpx file in Mapsource (select File|Open).
3. Connect your GPS to your computer.
4. Using Mapsource, transfer waypoint data to unit (select Transfer|Send to Device).
Other considerations:
To transfer Maps or other data to your GPS you may need to select the data/map using the Map Select Tool.
To transfer data , such as waypoints, from your GPS to Mapsource, select Transfer|Receive from Device.
To save the new data on your computer; in Mapsource, select File|Save or File|Save As.
Other file formats may need to be converted by a different program in order to be used by Mapsource... the ATC offers a nice shelter waypoint listing in .gtm format.
