I've seen pumps that can switch the fuel source from liquid gas to the cannister's. Does anyone know where I can find this pump and is this doable with the whisperlite?

You might contact MSR and see if they still stock replacement parts for the Rapidfire Stove. It was discontinued a few years ago, but it was the Whisperlite body with an attachment for a screw on canister.

The part would probably be called either the generator or the fuel line.
I picked a Rapidfire up last year used for $20, and it is now the most versatile stove I have for cooking for more than 2 people. Large stable base for larger pots, big burner head for dispersed heat, and the simplicity of a canister stove.
