I just had a thought while on a walk today (weird how that happens:-?).
I've thought occasionally of purchasing one of those gram weenie wallets.
Just today I had the thought that I could cut the zippered pocket out of a pair of well worn hiking pants or swimsuit, sear the edges with a flame, and have one at no cost.
Has anyone else come up with similar ideas? (Besides can-type stoves)
Saving money is almost always the right thing to do.:D

My riding lawn mower now has a goretex cover thanks to the demise of my ancient Early Winters hoop tent.

Remnants of old sleeping pads have made stove stands (with foil wrapped around it) for winter camping or pot cozies.

If I can't sell or give away something, I scavenge all the clips, buckles, zippers, and whatever else I can off of it for future projects. Works great when for prototyping out an idea before sewing with the $$$ stuff, and those notions add up in a hurry if they can be reused.
