I've got you covered http://www.msrgear.com/tents/muthahubba.asp (http://www.msrgear.com/tents/muthahubba.asp) The MSR "Mutha Hubba" is awesome! My wife and I and our 90 pound lab hiked last year with the MSR Hubba Hubba. You can ditch the stakes and it is big inside. A bunch of us hikers had a version of the MSR Hubba last year and everyone loved it. I bought a compression sack and I can compress this tent minus the pole down to the size of a grapefruit.

Love it!

We used a Tarptent Rainshadow 3-person shelter for several years. It really sleeps three adults, and weighs about 2.5 pounds total. I have a user review at backpackgeartest.org.

Can you split the weight of this tent up among two thru hikers (big guys). Would you recommend this tent to two guys without them waking up and asking where there hands are??? (Between two pillows?? Yikes!)

I'm really fond of the new REI Quarterdome T3. Lose the stuff sacks and heavy stakes, and it's not that bad..........

We carried the Big Agnes Superlight SL3 and it was a palace. Huge and comfy and relatively lightweight.

This one from Black Diamond looks good. Good weight for all the room.

I like my hiking partner, he's a nice guy and all, but I would *never* share a tent with him. Even a 3-person tent. Long distance hikers should carry their own shelters unless they have a really good reason to sleep next to each other (married, involved, etc.) Just my opinion, of course, but there are lots of good reasons for it.

You can get two good solo shelters for the weight of the MSR tent.

I agree BigCranky! We only shared a tent because we were married. Almost everyone carries thier own shelter on the trail.

You can split the weight up with the MSR Hubba series if you need to. My wife and I split our items differently. I carried the tent, food, and extra dog food. She carried the stove, eating utensils, misc items like camp towels, water purification system etc. My pack ran between 23 - 25 pounds and hers ran between 20-23 pounds. Good luck! I hope you and your girlfriend love it.
