For those who have visited Horse Creek area in Greene County, TN, what is the easiest access to reach the A.T. on Coldspring Mountain & Big Butt from the campground.

I have attempted to follow the old jeep road (USFS 94) but only got about 3/4th way before I turned back before it got too late. I found it a bit of a challenge with the road being a bit steep and rocky in parts, and is quite the long way up being around 5 miles.

Wondering if anyone has walked Sarvis Cove Trail and how it steep and long it was?

Then there seems a bit of confusion with the Sampson Wilderness Trails. The ATC map says Squibb Creek Trail reaches the northeastern end of Big Butt and turns toward the AT on the top. Then in Skeltons Cherokee Forest Trail Guide says Squibb Creek ends at the falls, but Middle Spring Ridge Trail goes up to Big Butt, and requires some off-trail navigating in the last mile.
