Any North Texas hiker interesting in a little cool weather backpacking? I am heading up to the Cross Timbers trail on Texoma in late January or Early February. Want to hike?

This is a tougher trail than most people realize lots of ups and downs. It gets overgrown in the summer but is nice early in the year. It is hard to get ready for the AT in Texas but walking up steep hills with a bag on your back is never bad. I took several trips up there last spring and summer. Pretty nice!

The trail is about 18 miles long with a number of good primative camp sites. It is a mixed hardwood forest and actually classified as Eastern Mixed Hardwood so it is not too unlike the southern appalachians.

Jump off point would be Juniper Point or Cedar Bayou Marina. Leave a not or send a PM if interested. It is about 1 1/2 North of Dallas.
