Here are two things that make sense to me:
1) Trangia - being able to store fuel saves weight and aggravation. I do not waste fuel when conditions change - I do not have to meter out fuel and hope it is enough. Just fill it, cook and cap it when it cools.
2) Wearing my wool sweater that is 1.5 ounces heavier than my patagonia marsuapial because it breathes better and does not make me sweat so much, saving me weight by not soaking my base layer.
What do you have that is lighter, but stays at home because it is less functional than its alternative?
