I will be starting my thru-hike on May 2nd. My dog,Happy, will be hiking with me. How do I get him around the Smokies? Any ideas would be appreciated. Happy Hiking.

there are 2 possible solutions to you problem: 1) leave HAPPY @ home.....or 2) kennel HAPPY somewhere near Fontana Dam & have him shuttled to you after the Smokies!. Contact the HIKE INN they'll have some kennel owners names in the area if you choose option #2. :D

Both WF's Thru-Hikers Handbook and the ALDHA's Companion have information on kennels that will shuttle and board your dog in their GSMNP sections.
You can look at the ALDHA Companion on line somewhere at www.aldha.org.
