Lone Star Trail

I'm from the Dallas, Texas area. Seeing as how Texas has very few if any trails over 40 miles in length I was wondering if anybody had heard of the Lone Star Trail ? I have heard that it is over 100 miles long, but can't find information about the trail anywhere.

Mountain Dew---A lot of good trails in East Texas, in the Crocket forest area. Also, if you have time to drive--Big Bend is good, lots of good circular and base camping set ups there.
Bob Tarbet--if you are out there, give him the name, publisher of that book we were discussing (I STILL can't remember!)

for non-Texans--just for clarity on the driving, it is closer from El Paso to California, than from El Paso to Dallas.

The Lone Star Trail is up over 100 miles in the Piney woods around Huntsville and Conroe. It has a short hiking season unless you love bugs. Hunting season in those parts can run into February. You can see a trail head on the frontage road of I-45.

I have heard good things about the Cap Rock Canyon Trailway near Turkey, Texas. Nearly 65 miles of reclaimed train right of way, longest rail tunnel in Texas. A friend hiked it last spring and said they did NOT have the water stations working around the time of spring break but it was great. She gave me a hint that it can be all up hill or all down hill depending where you start. I have driven trough the area but have not been on the trail.

Thanks for the links.......I think hiking the 138 mile Lone Star Trail would be alot like the 100 mile wilderness in terms of resupply. It has NO resupply points but does have one consession stand near the midway point at a park ? hahahahahaaaa sweet ! Yeah it isn't too late in Texas to hike that trail because it is still cool at night and in the high 70's/mid 80's in the daytime. I think I'll plan a hike for next march maybe. Thanks guys....
