Hi everyone, i'm old school (54) and always used a regular cut bag. Now i'm thinking of upgrading. How do i get past the mental part of less leg room that a mummy bag provides?

Hike untill you are good and tired. Then sleep like a baby.

How do i get past the mental part of less leg room that a mummy bag provides?Spend the night outside in a rectangular bag, then spend the night outside in a mummy. Remember how cold you were in the rectangular bag and adjust attitude accordingly. :D

It is amazing the different cut of various bags. Some are tight, some are not.

Need to crawl in them.

Get a Montbell UL Super Stretch Down Hugger (http://www.prolitegear.com/site/xdpy/sbsg/Montbell/Sleep%20Systems/Sleeping%20Bags.html). These bags have elastic in the baffles, so they stretch to move with you as you thrash around. My lovely wife has the 30-degree version, and loves it. She always felt constricted in a slim mummy bag.

I'm switching back to the square cut. I like to curl up on my side.

Like Cool Breeze says, if your tired it doesn't matter much.

Depends on when your hiking, too. If you're hiking in moderate weather all the time, go for comfort.

My brother got something called a hybrid, its like a mummy with a larger footbox. I guess thats something to consider too.
