Does anyone know if seasoning titanium will work? In other words, like I do with my cast iron pans at home to make them non-stick.

No. Cast iron is very porous on the molecular level, as opposed to titanium, which is far less so, since it's much higher on the periodical table. You're far better off with a non-stick coating on titanium, and a fat-saturated iron pan that you sure don't want to carry.

Try it any way and give us a full report. I think it might stick. When I season cast iron I always use a polyunsaturated oil because it's less stable, and it will cure better. I also use higher heat than most instructions call for - usually 350 degrees. Be sure to season the pot upside down.

If it won't season then cast iron will always help you meet your 40 pound minimum.

Especially that Dutch oven, my choice for non-hiking outdoor cookware.
