Take the 0*! Why even think about having an uncomfortable night for 6oz.? I used a good 0* bag until Pearisburg in 2002. If it's too hot, unzip it the whole way, put your feet in the foot box and use it as a quilt. You will have more "room" for sleeping and sleep better. If you want to save the 6oz., take one item less of clothing.
BTW, I had a few below 0* nights after Neel's Gap and I started March 17th.

Jim Now Your On My Track Of Thinking. When I Did The Smokies Im October I Had A Snow Storm Blow In And I Had 2 Nights 1 At 6 Degrees And The Other At 15. I Had My 20 Degree Western Bad And I Got Pretty Cold. I Even Had My Arc Teryx Softshell And My Gore Pants.

My first thru I used a 20* bag, I was cold once or twice, I was hot once or twice, I saw every blaze and was so excited that I had a great hike.
My second thru I used a 0*, a 32* and a 50* bag, I was never cold, never too hot, checked out quite a few blue blazes and had a great hike...comfortably!

Take it, others have perfect advise. Why chance being cold, especially at night. I hate being cold. Send home/swap later on.

If you tend to sleep warm, take the 15 and a liner. But like you said, if yoo go with the zero you can always have it shipped along the trail and return your other one. If you ship that expensive an item, but be sure to use a traceable carrier like UPS or fed ex

Can't afford to buy another 0 degree. If I am packing in expedition weight longs and tops plus fleece jacket how low of a temp night can I sustain? Tent= Six moon design Lunar Duo. Sleep hot... Opinions??
