Last Child in the Woods author Richard Louv will speak at Reading Area Community College's Miller Center for the Arts on March 24, 2009 at 6:00 PM. Click on Berks County Conservancy (http://www.berks-conservancy.org/CalendarofEvents/tabid/128/Default.aspx) for more information and tickets.

Since there have been many WhiteBlaze threads started about the importance of how and when to introduce children to the outdoors and many of us here understand it's importance, I thought someone may want to attend this presentation.

Readers interested in the subject matter and issues raised by Richard Louv may wish to click on Hike for Health (http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/showthread.php?t=47245), a WhiteBlaze thread which links a Penn State Cooperative Extension website by the same name about introducing children to nutrition concepts. It includes recipes parents and their children can prepare before heading out on the trail.

Parents seeking outdoor-oriented activities for children should look into offerings at Nolde Forest EEC (http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateParks/parks/noldeforest.aspx).

This thread had over 150 hits last I looked. Did anyone attend or was anyone inspired to read his book?

I considered going, but in the end decided against it. Still, I'd enjoy reading even a brief report from anyone who was there.
