Its up to 50* here in Northern NH!
Maybe those heading out soon for the trail aren't so crazy after all.
If it lasts...

In 2007 I crossed the Georgia/North Carolina border on a 81 degree day. When I hit the smokies a couple week later it was 8 degrees one night and 9 the next. You have to be prepaired for the cold.

Did the groundhog see his shadow?

Pennsylvania groundhogs have been predicting the weather for years and have never been wrong. Accu Weather has nothing on them.

Both Uni (http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/showpost.php?p=770817&postcount=7) and that silly, media-hog in Punxsutawney saw their shadows. You can bank on it and plant by it.:sun

79 degrees F at the moment. Not many clouds. I'm sure Miss Janet and Fabian are smiling some where south of me. (26C)
I'm predicting an early spring and setting myself apart from the many shadow seeing hogs.
I do agree with what is said and always be prepared for the cool of the mountains whether south or north.
Tomorrow it is a two mile hike to an early bus to Oscar Scherer State Park, Florida. Every Thursday they have, at the Nature Center, an AYCE pancake, sausage, orange juice, and coffee breakfast. Should be fun as always and real nice folks too. Then a hike around the park for a bit and home by one or two.

Computer says it's 67* outside... it was 62* at lunch when I put down my sandwich and went out for a walk...

Dreaming of trails right now.

I just poked around the NOAA long range forcast pages and thier calling for above normal temps in the southeast for Feb, March and April, along with below normal percipitation. I may move my departure to do VA this spring from late April to early April if this turns out to be true.

Spring hasnt arrived in the SE. it was single digit temps just last week. And there was over 2 ft of fresh snow in the Smokies. I would say that it is a 'typical' year here. We have 60 and 70 temps, followed by teens a couple days later.

Saw the weather, snow here supposedly next week. Mix of stuff on Saturday. Back in the 30's.

It ain't over. We just had a winter thaw which is normal.
