There's a lot near the Tye River, I left my car there over the weekend, no incidents. I don't know about Daleville on the other end. The Dutch Haus shuttles and when I used them the price was reasonable and the driver (owner) was on time. I had a shorter shuttle though than you, about 1/2 the distance, but I got that shuttle to the north of the Tye. I don't know if Daleville is in their shuttle area.

For shuttles in that area, I have used:

Homer Witcher
Daleville, VA
(540) 992-3932
[email protected]

Earl and Lois Arnold (Dutch Haus)
Montebello, VA
(540) 377-2119

I had wonderful service from both.

There is tons of parking info at
http://appalachianpages.com/index.php?pageid=parking
Load the file into Google Earth and enjoy! The local shuttlers will have a better idea about how safe or unsafe a particular location would be.

Have a great hike!

I've used Homer too and have parked right at US220 in the commuter parking lot next to the interstate for several nights. There are also a couple of hotels next to the trail in Daleville and you can make arrangements maybe there too if you stay a night coming or going.

I saw Homer out on the trail today hiking back to the cars after they finished doing some trail work. Two new relocations are open now between Angels Gap and Scorched Earth Gap. To stay on topic....I didn't ask him about doing shuttles but I know he would love to.

Maurice Turner is an excellent source for any shuttle needs near Daleville. I've used him twice, and the service was excellent. I think his number is (540) 334-2128. He can also tell you where you can park at Daleville. Another excellent source for a shuttle near Glasgow on the James River is Ken Wallace. He's at the campground, and his number is 434-299-5228. Have a great hike.

There is also a website dedicated to providing AT Parking information: http://AppalachianTrail.rohland.org (http://appalachiantrail.rohland.org/) that might provide more information for you.
