primaloft quilt
Primaloft comes in .8 inch thick and 1.3 inches thick.
How thick should I make a quilt, 2.6, 2.1, or 1.6 inches thick ???
I plan to hike in Spring & Fall on AT.

I made a 42" x 82" quilt with 2" primaloft insulation. has worked very well in PA April through September. I'd guess 30 deg. F and above. I just wish I had made it a tad wider, maybe 50" for easier tuck-under my elbows when it was chilly.(I'm about 72" tall and 190 lbs.) for summer 1" would be fine.
regards,
Bill

I have quilts (though down) of 2.5" and 1.5 " for winter and summer. The 2.5 was plenty toasty last year 26 Mar to !6 May( Springer mt to Pearisburg VA). Size is important...78x48 with the ability to gather a footsack works for me...more than plenty in a hammock. Ground sleepers might want about 52" wide to keep the tuck better. BTW quilts top and bottom really are a great if not the best answer in hammocks. Also I have used my 1.5 " quilts in hammocks to the 30s with fleece,40 is comfortable in skivies.
