Hi all!

I already have a Kelly Kettle for myself, but I am trying to outfit my best friend who is slowly transitioning into camping.

She is jealous of the Kelly Kettle but cannot afford it, herself. Nor can I afford to buy her one in time for her birthday. So after a bit searching on WB, I found the Swiss Flask and Cup Cookset (http://west.loadup.com/military/surplus/12644.html). This is a birthday gift price I can afford. :o

Now my WB searching has failed me, so I cannot find who originally posted that they use it instead of a Kelly Kettle, but that person said that they burn wood in it.

So here is my question: What tips and tricks do you have for converting the cookset from the Esbit-burner that it is supposed to be over to a wood burner? It looks like burning wood in the cooker isn't "self explanatory" but I'm a good directions follower, and so is she.

Thanks in advance for all of your explaining! Pictures are a plus. :D

I have one of these for day tripping and use it for heating water for tea, coffee, soups. My advise is to make a little alcohol stove for it. Use a small can (ion stove) or a tealite stove. Cut a hole in the side so your stove will fit.

Cut just the top of the water cannister off (who needs the useless cork?) and put a wire bail on it. You can then store the stove, matches, instant coffee and soup etc inside the cannister.
