Can someone please identify the mtn. in the background of this photo? The view is from Mt. Cammerer. The mtn. in question is in the center of the photo with the flat top and with what kind of looks like "cat ears".

I'm the first to respond. Mt. Mowgli. Forever more.

That's a fancy way of saying "I don't know."

I think it's Big Cataloochee based on the direction I am assuming you are looking. Mount Sterling would be just out of the picture to the left.

Mt. Sterling is to the right. I don't really know. I'm guessing Hemphill Bald.

Hemphill Bald makes sense if Mount Sterling is on the right.

The ridge in the foreground looks to be the ridge that drops down to Big Creek Ranger Station. Chestnut Branch would flow up the valley between Cammerer and that first ridge. Sterling is the second larger ridge, so the view is looking out of the park towards I-40 in a SE direction. Hemphill Bald would be to the right out of this picture, to the south. I'm not sure if Hemphill could be seen over Mt. Sterling or the Sterling Ridge. I'll be there Saturday and if it is clear, I'll see if I can see Hemphill from Cammerer.

You meant the one in the distance - I thought you meant the one where the picture was taken from.

Huh? :-?
OP wanted to know the name of the mountain in the picture, not the place from which the picture was taken..

I Google mapped it to make sure.
