Hiking the Appalachian Trai

The Hope Library announces a multimedia presentation about hiking the Appalachian Trail at 7 PM on March 19, at the Hope Library, Hope Corner.

Lincolnville residents Tom and Marcia Jamrog are backpackers who have hiked the Appalachian Trail. Last year, Marcia completed over1,000 miles and in 2007, Tom was able to successfully thru-hike the entire 2,175 mile AT. Join Tom and Marcia for photos, videos, and stories of their adventures. They’ll take you from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Maine’s own Mt. Katahdin through some of the most spectacular national parks and wilderness areas of our East Coast states.

The presentation will highlight sections of the trail which are also perfect for shorter backpacking vacations. They will share tips on gear, trip planning, and paring down your load to a safe and comfortable minimum. They will share with the group some of the ways that the hike has influenced their daily living. Experience two diverse approaches to long distance hiking, enjoy the discussion, and renew a sense of excitement for your own upcoming outdoor plans.
