Are wicked awsome! 8-10" of new snow the other day really freashend up the snow pack, making for prime showshoeing conditions today. Last weekend I used crampons the whole way up Lowes path to the Gray Knob cabin as the trail was hard packed. Snow depth has got to be 5 feet or more above 3500 feet and more snow coming tomorrow:banana Should be some nice conditions in March, lots of snow pack, milder temps. Skiing in Tucks should last into April again this year, though I'm not crazy enough to try that!

Looks like we are getting a second good snowy winter in a row. Last February I went up to the Old Fire Wardens Cabin on top of Smart's Mtn (AT) and there was six feet of snow. The White Blazes were at snow level.

Yep, it's been a great winter. I was out yesterday (2/21), and the snow just kept getting deeper as you climbed. Looking for another foot or more today... it's snowing now.

21" as of 1:30 Monday at the Gorham/Randolph Line about 3 miles from the top of Mt Madison as the crow flies. This is all up slope snow from the west so its mostly powder, I expect some spots (like Gray knob) could get up to 30 at elevation. Considering that my woodpile had no snow on it less 9 days ago and now it has over 3 feet.

You dont need a sled in this type of snow, just a pair of nylon pants. The packed out trail becomes a bob sled run. We slid down about 2000 feet yesterday in about 45 minutes!
