I was just wondering if there is a large map out there that shows the trail in its entirety. Not state by state - just a reasonably large map that shows it all. Not for hiking with but actually for some friends that want to track my progress on my thru this year.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

There are two (https://www.atctrailstore.org/catalog/itemlist.cfm?catid=173&submit.x=12&submit.y=9) that come to mind. I have the unlaminated strip map, (actually I have the National Park Brochure (http://www.nps.gov/appa/planyourvisit/upload/APPA%20Map.pdf) version).

See you on the trail,

that's funny i was just looking into this a little while ago. i was looking at www.postholer.com (http://www.postholer.com) and it looks like there is a map on there; where others can track your progress. i don't know all the particulars, the cpu i am using is a real donkey, and it was taking forever. i also looked on www.trailjournals.com (http://www.trailjournals.com) but i didn't see a map feature. maybe others who have used these sites can chime in

Here's a google map (http://postholer.com/gmap/gmap.php?trail=at) of the AT, fully interactive, zoom until your heart is content. As mentioned, it's a bit taxing on slower computers.

Also, if you're keeping a journal at postholer (http://postholer.com) you can actually put your journal entrys on the map. It shows exactly where you were that day for every journal entry, so your readers don't have to guess.

Check out the journal demo (http://postholer.com/demo). Click on the latitude or longitude value to get the map.

Here you are:

The big one is older but the AT hasn't changed much at all on that scale, and it has plenty of border space to write stuff, attach pics, etc.

Search Appalachian Trail on Ebay. That's where I got one for the people I'm leaving behind to follow my hike.

http://www.thetrailwiki.org/ is a good alternative as well. It has the most CPU-Unintensive google map code which makes it the fastest rendering (and doesn't slow down your computers / Crash your browser)

ATC has a brand new membership brochure that features a 20" map of the A.T. through the 14 states, with some beautiful photos beside it. The other side has some nice photos too. Of course, we hope that people who request the brochure will become members and support our work to manage and protect the places shown on the map and photo, but that's your choice.

If anyone would like a copy, send an email to [email protected] with "Membership brochure request" in the subject line.

I have this one framed in my house. It's a weird size so expect to pay if you are goint to have it framed.

Are you talking about this one?

Yes, I could not find a poster frame of any sort to fit that one. Hobby Lobby and all those types couldn't help me. Finally just ponied up for a custom frame.

Just checked Google Maps for Springer to Katahadin. Maybe someone at Google can fix this. The AT is probably the most famous trail in the USA
