North Bound in first week of May. Any idea on normal temps that time of year? Would zip off pants be best? Also allergic to Poison Ivy, will be using a hammock. How bad is the ivy through Hot Springs?

No poison ivy in Hot Springs as long as you stay on the sidewalk. It's outside of Hot Springs where you got to watch it.

I sectioned through there starting May 10 last year and had absolutely no problems with poison ivy, extreme high or low temps, etc. It was really the best weather I could ask for.

Temps can be hot in may with cool evenings. I found the poison ivy to be everywhere in Ga. But you just have to be aware of it when setting up camp. I had no problem while hiking i just made sure to look before sitting down for a break. I noticed more from dicks gap to the state line for some reason.

+1 - May 3rd Springer to Dams, no problems w/poison ivy, wore shorts hiking almost every day, put on dry thermals at night. Fairly wide range of temp. but never cold in the extreme, maybe down in the mid 20's a couple nights up high.
