I'm starting my thru-hike on Sunday, and I'd like to say thanks to everyone on here.

I'm new to the wonderful world of hiking, and the advice, support, humour and information I've found on Whiteblaze has been invaluable in my preparations.

I would be so ill-prepared without all that I've learned here. So thank you, one and all :)

See you all out there, and best of luck to my fellow thrus!

Did you decide on what game you're going to see or where?

Not yet, but it will be baseball. I've seen a far bit of it on TV, and enjoy watching it - though why you people can't play cricket like we do in civilised countries I'll never know :-)

Will be staying with some friends in Syracruse NY for a couple of days when I get near it, we're going to try to sort something out for there.

Here's a suggestion: You will probably run into one or more baseball fanatics while you're hiking. It probably wouldn't take much coaxing to get them to help you engineer going to a game or three. They'll also probably be willing to tell you way more than you really want to know about the fine points of the sport.

Have a great hike!

Hey good luck. Dont take it too seriously out there. What I mean is enjoy YOUR hike and have fun. Saw alot of people get so serious out there last year and got burnt out. Like Lone Wolf always says, "Its just walkin"

Good luck and we will look for you on the AT as you as you pass through NC/TN.

Good luck. If nothing happens to change my plans, I will be in Maine in July to complete my hike. Perhaps I'll run into you.

Happy hiking. :sun

Have a super hike, stay flexible, throw out all plans, go with the flow, and take it one day at a time. You'll have good days and bad days but the experience of it all is forever. And Maine will be there before you know it. Stay in touch. :)
