:jump I am planning to start the southern section of the LT next weekend. Am I crazy considering black flies etc. I did a section last June 13th -15th without problems. Any thoughts advice (yes, I will bring a head net & deet).

If you did a section of LT last June, then you should know what you are getting into. I think you answered your own question.
Personally, I wouldn't do it, but if you managed fine before why would you think that you would have a problem now? Black flys come out AROUND the same time every year, but it is all dependent on weather conditions. You might have gotten lucky last year, and not this year. But a headnet and deet should go a long way.
