Towns to vist?

Hi everyone (im a new poster so I apologize if I am not posting this in the correct forum)
THis summer I am hiking from georgia to the maryland/pa. area, I am new to the AT, and Im wondering what towns I will literally go through, and what towns are nearby enough for a newby to hitchhike or walk to. Your recomendation of these towns or places to go in them are greatly appreciated, Again, I apologize if Im not posting this in the correct area.

There are 3 towns and one pseudo town that are 'on' the trail. They are:
a) Hot Springs NC - Main Street
b) Damascus - Main Street
c) Daleville - walk across US highway. There is gas station, grocery store, motel, Pizza Hut all within 100 yards of the trail head.

d) NOC (Wesser) is a rafting mecca 8-9 months of the year. It isnt a town per sei, but it is a resupply point and the outfitter will have any gear repair/replacement.

Most of the towns listed in the various books/guides are within 10 miles of the trail and usually a pretty easy hitch from the trail head. Towns that are farther off the trail usually have hostels or locals that run shuttles to/from the trail at regular intevals.

Neel Gap - for the outfitter if needed
Hiawasee - great buffet, need a hitch
Franklin - Ron and Miss Janet
Robbinsville (to get you ready for the Smokies)
Hot Springs - trail town
Erwin - resupply
Damascus - true and tried trail town
Bland - resupply but spread out some
Pearisburg - resupply
Catawba - the Homeplace restaurant
Daleville Interchange - right there is a massive Kroger amongother great things
Waynesboro - awesome Chinese buffet, superb outfitter, spread out
Front Royal (but spread out)
Harpers Ferry
