Hi
I will be stuck in the St Paul area of Minnesota next week, speaking at a conference. I will have plenty of down time. Hard to imagine all that woods in Minnesota and I have to spend it indoors at a conference! Not enough to go on any decent hikes. So I am wondering does any one have advice on good outfitters in Minnesota worth to check out?
Thanks in advance for being my tour guide!

REI has I believe three locations around the cities, and definitely check out Midwest Mountaineering.

Midwest Mountaineering, no doubt. Too bad you can't get up to the Superior area. The Superior Hiking Trail with all it's spurs and connectors is very conducive to day hikes and short loops.

If you get a chance, go and have lunch at a cafe called 'Bread and Chocolate' on Victoria St. in St. Paul. Best damn snickerdoodle you've ever eaten.
