For Trail Days 2009 in Damascus, Virginia, we are looking for several volunteers to help us manage this event. A link to the types of volunteers we need and contact information can be found here:

At the risk of burning up whiteblaze server space, here's a list of types of volunteers needed:

We need volunteers at the following places, during the designated times. If you can help, please contact Tuesday, the Damascus Town Clerk, at the following e-mail address: damascusclerk @ embarqmail.com (damascusclerk%20@%20embarqmail.com) (remove the spaces.) Free camping for volunteers, free wristband for weekend campground entry.

Campground setup volunteers

Desired number - 10

Show up Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning. You must pre-register for this to make sure you get free camping. Stealth campers will be recruited for work details.

On Wednesday 13th we will block off parking spaces, block off the area for the manufacturer's representatives, clear campsite areas near the creek, gather wood for the bonfires, make sure the rest rooms and showers are ready, and do other jobs as needed to get the campground ready for several thousand campers.

Bring long-sleeve shirts, trousers, work gloves, and sturdy boots or work shoes. This is strenuous, sometimes messy work.

We thank Mala for his past cooking activities. We will try to find someone to cook for the campground volunteeers. If you have skills in this area let us know.

Vendor setup volunteers

Desired number - 4

Be at the Town Park on Thursday 14th to help measure and block off spaces for all of the vendors, including crafts, food, and manufacturers.
We will designate a time and place of meeting later.

Volunteers in this area should be available all day Thursday, and early Friday morning.

Volunteer Host/House Manager

Desired number - 6

Study the schedule of programs at Rock School Auditorium, at Youth Center and at Town Hall from Wednesday, May 13 through Sunday, May 17 to help you choose where you would like to spend your time.

When you volunteer by email, please specify that you would like to be a house manager for programs.

Job Description

Be responsible for a key to one location; doors should be locked when host leaves the building.

Greet program presenter and audience members. Ask presenter if he or she wants an introduction - most prefer to introduce themselves.

Assist presenter with making the equipment work to show slides, power point, dvd, video, etc.

Adjust the house lights to suit the program.

Between presenters, chairs may need to be rearranged and restrooms need to be checked for ample paper products and hand washing liquids.

During programs enjoy each subject while being aware of late arrivals needing seats.
